Preparing a boat for Survey

The vessel should be clear of clutter with the lockers emptied, if possible, to enable access. Receipts for repairs and upgrades should be onboard along with the ship's papers. Have flares, fire extinguishers and safety equipment set out for inspection.

Insurance / Underwriter Condition and Value Survey:

Vessels to 50 feet: $20 per foot.

This type of marine survey is conducted so that an underwriter can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. This survey will cover the structural integrity, systems and safety requirements of the vessel, including a fair market price evaluation. Recommendations will be based on Transport Canada Regulations TP 1332E, ABYC, NFPA, and/or Surveyors own personal experience.

Pre-Purchase Surveys:

Vessels to 50 feet: $26 per foot / Call for a quote on larger vessels.

This marine survey is an in depth comprehensive fifteen to seventeen page written report ( depending on the length and type of Vessel ) on the over all condition of the hull, deck, superstructure, vessel systems and safety requirements. The report will include a fair market price evaluation and recommendations based on Transport Canada Regulations TP 1332E, ABYC, NFPA, and/or Surveyors own personal experience.

For pre-purchase marine surveys the vessel requires to be hauled out of the water for a complete inspection of the wetted surfaces and underwater machinery. An independent engine survey by a qualified person is normally recommended.
